#6: Tales From the Darkside; The Movie (?)
    #7: The Gore Gore Girls.

    That’s all I got.

  • 2 TenebrousKateNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 9:21 am

Chris has NAILED number 7!  Bravo.
    6, alas, is cold  🙁

  • 3 Amanda By NightNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 9:23 am

Haha! I was going to say I thought #7 was the Gore Gore Girls. It’s the only one I think I recognize. Except #4 looks like Jim Van Bebber! I know it’s not, but still…

  • 4 phil d.No Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 9:30 am

    Is #4 “The Legacy”?

  • 5 VicarOfVHSNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 9:38 am

#6–Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key
    9–Vengeance of the Zombies!

  • 6 TenebrousKateNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 9:42 am

Vicar chiming in for TWO correct answers!  Molto bene, fellow trashfan  😉
Amanda, he does have a Bebber-ish look to him, doesn’t he?  But yes–this is from pre-Bebber-times.
Sorry, Phil!  But that’s a very fine catfilm indeed.

    Is #5 from Herzog’s Nosferatu?

  • 8 Walter PaisleyNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 9:49 am

    3: The Uncanny
    4: Night of 1000 Cats
Those are both total guesses, but those movies have to be in here somewhere!

  • 9 TenebrousKateNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 9:53 am

Binrow, you are SO in the right area code–very, VERY close!
Walter gets number 4 on the NOSE! That’s non-“Basterd” Hugo Stiglitz with one of his feline co-stars.  3 is not it (but that’s another fab “death by cats” film!).

  • 10 Luki8701No Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 10:11 am

    3 – Inferno?

  • 11 Andre DumasNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 10:26 am

Well I do believe #5 is SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE?

  • 12 TenebrousKateNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 10:41 am

Luki gets 3 and Andre gets 5.  Nicely done!
1, 2, 8 and 10 remain unidentified.  Who’s going to be the uber-guesser/knower of things?

  • 13 EegahIncNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 11:28 am

Is #1 Cat’s Eye? Nah, probably too obvious.

  • 14 magiredNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 11:55 am

long shot but is 8 the spiral staircase?

  • 15 unkle lanciferNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 12:04 pm

I just had a tiny brain spark!

    is  #10 Tomb of Ligeia?

Please inform me that I am a smarty.

  • 16 TenebrousKateNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 2:00 pm

Sorry, guys–awesome guesses all round, but no.
OK kiddos–I’m’a start dropping hints now  🙂
Unk, 10 is not a Poe adaptation, BUT it is an adaptation of a work by another, different Decadent author.

  • 17 unkle lanciferNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 2:37 pm

    Hmmm. What about this meow-meow?

  • 18 Amanda By NightNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 2:50 pm

Damn, I should have got the Black Cat one, it’s my favorite Lucio Fulci movie. If anyone sees the new horror movie Dark House, see if you can pick out the Black Cat reference! Hint: there’s no cat. I couldn’t believe I guess it myself, but it’s there!

  • 19 TenebrousKateNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 3:05 pm

No no!  No “Black Cat,” alas–though “Your Vice Is a Locked Room…” , which the Vicar guessed above, is an adaptation of that story.
No “cat” in any of the titles, though there’s a critter in the title of 1.  Also, 2 and 8 are by the same director.

  • 20 jaakkoNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 3:27 pm

Wow, is that young Jess Franco on pic #2? Don’t know the movie, though.

  • 21 TenebrousKateNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 3:44 pm

Yes, that’s Uncle Jess.  Jaakko is on the right track!

  • 22 saraegNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 3:52 pm

is it ‘succubus’ or ‘venus in furs’?

  • 23 unkle lanciferNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 4:30 pm

    Uneducated guesses….
    maybe
    2 Sadistic Baron Von Klaus

    8 Awfull Dr Orloff

  • 24 TenebrousKateNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 4:34 pm

8 has been gotten!  Yay!!!  And you’re right in the correct naming convention with your #2 guess…

  • 25 TenebrousKateNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 4:34 pm

I was unclear (as I am–oops)–#8 is “Awful Dr. Orloff”

  • 26 unkle lanciferNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 4:51 pm

    2= Diabolical Dr .Z!

  • 27 unkle lanciferNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 4:57 pm

Could 10 be the Haunted Palace?

  • 28 FatherOfTearsNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 5:12 pm

Yep, #3 is “Inferno” where Daria Nicolodi has cats thrown at her!

  • 29 TenebrousKateNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 5:23 pm

    We have a #2 winner!
FatherOfTears–that’s the scene exactly!  Everybody talks about the beautifully designed Bava underwater sequence in “Inferno,” but my most-remembered moment is the great cat-tossing death.
1 and 10 remain unguessed thus far!  Any takers, or shall there be more hinting?

  • 30 unkle lanciferNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 5:38 pm

    I need some major hintage

We still have our Muttley prize to give away!

  • 31 TenebrousKateNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 5:43 pm

Both 1 and 10 have been reviewed on my blog, for those who care to peek!
Okey smokes, here begins the hintage… the beastie that makes up part of the title of the film in 1 has twice as many legs as a cat *ought* to have.
The author of the book on which 10 is based could be said to be part of the Wilde kingdom (too easy?).

  • 32 unkle lanciferNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 5:52 pm

    10=Portrait of Dorian Gray?
Rats! What s #1!!!!! I’m stumped! I think you better just reveal the Answer KT
my only guess is Megashark vs Giant Octopuss

  • 33 TenebrousKateNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 6:02 pm

Yup!  10 is the 1970 Italian production of “Dorian Gray” (which is filled with psychedelic excellence, FYI).
The elusive 1 is “Black Belly of the Tarantula”–that cat gets more screen time and is more fully-fleshed as a character than most of the protagonists, I think  🙂
    In review:
1 – Black Belly of the Tarantula
    2 – Diabolical Dr. Z
    3- Inferno
    4- Night of 1000 Cats
5 – Shadow of the Vampire
6 – Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key
    7 – Gore Gore Girls
    8 – Awful Dr. Orloff
9 – Vengeance of the Zombies
    10 – Dorian Gray
Thanks for hosting me, Unk and Auntie!  And cheers to everybody for playing along!  I had a blast and hope I haven’t sullied the good name of Kindertrauma Kastle too terribly much.

  • 34 unkle lanciferNo Gravatar // Sep 3, 2010 at 6:12 pm

Black Belly of the Tarantula! I should have known that one!

The winner of our “Virtual Muttley medal” is……
TENEBROUS KATE for being such a perfect host!
Here is your prize Kate…you can watch it as many times as you like…..

Thanks to everyone for playing and have a good weekend!

I’d like to see a Toonces episode directed by Lucio Fulci.

  • 36 FatherOfTearsNo Gravatar // Sep 4, 2010 at 12:43 pm

There is an episode in the Emma Peel era of “The Avengers” where people are killed by killer cats.
