They’re Back! Kindertrauma II: The Other Side

July 14th, 2013 by unkle lancifer · 17 Comments

Hey, look we’re back and better than ever! Well, actually that “better than ever” part isn’t accurate but the part about us being back is mostly true. Sorry we were away for so long. Our move turned out to be a great deal more arduous than expected. We had zero Internet for a time and then when we did get it back, I didn’t exactly welcome its return with open arms. I needed all the white plastic flakes in my snow globe brain to settle before I could even think about turning my computer on. I did play a great deal of Candy Crush on my phone though. I admit that. It didn’t help much and neither did imagining zillions of Chicken Little apocalyptic scenarios. Do they make thunder shirts for people? Why do dogs get all the luck?

Somewhere along the line I became morbidly obsessed with the Artax –sinking notion that my working hard on something and my not doing anything at all both produce uncannily similar results. Naturally this resulted in oblivion-seeking naps followed by more oblivion-seeking naps. Futility is the fluffiest pillow. Almost too late I realized the cause of my discombobulation, molasses-dipped ennui and dramatic Mathew Perry-style weight loss was my foolish decision to go cold turkey from my required dosage of trauma. No wonder my kilt was off-kilter! And so I return. Thanks for your patience stalwart kindertots and my apologies to anyone whose submissions were not processed promptly. Hopefully we’ll be running at full capacity soon! There’s still plenty of trauma gold in them there hills!

Missed you guys tons. Glad you got to your new place and have decided to return to the interwebs.

    Oblivion-seeking naps are good though.

Huzzah! Now, if I could just get a health update on Tim Curry all would be right in my world.

Welcome back, Kindertrauma hosts, it’s reassuring to have you back! I have to admit, I am curious about your new domicile. You previously mentioned it had a foyer and everything, which I associate with all kinds of old-timey fancypantsedness. Don’t disabuse me of my illusions, but I really want to believe the place is festooned with Victorian lace woven through with cobwebs. Imagine an Edgar-Oliver-type voice asking of you “Is it suitably daaaark and dreeeeary?” Just don’t break my heart and tell me House of Kindertrauma II is just drywall and wall-to-wall shag carpet if, in fact, it actually is.

Aw thanks for all these nice words everybody. I really missed the wonderful commenters that visit here. You guys are great. I think for now on I’m just going to hang out in the kindertrauma bubble and cut back on other sites and Facebook and that will make the internet experience much better for me. Id rather be a happy fish in this little pond than an aggravated one in that big sea of barking nonsense out there.

Stickman, you would not be disappointed with the house. It’s very old and only two other families have lived here. Our neighbor next door was born here (This was his Aunt’s house) and he is 83. (He also brought us a bottle of champagne when we moved in). It has a big old staircase with a curling banister and tons of old school embellishments everywhere. There’s even an incredible carved wood (non-functioning) fireplace and closet in the wall of the bedroom. It wasn’t too expensive either cuz we’re off the beaten path a bit. We’re just lucky the previous owners kept good care and did not try to modernize it that much. Norman Bates and his mother would definitely feel at home here and that’s what we were looking for.

Honestly most my stress with the move came from the cats not adjusting well and me freaking out that they did not know where they were and might try to run away. That just snowballed into the fret olympics. But everybody is fine now and enjoying the place. I’m glad that I could focus on that other part of my life while I needed to and still have you guys to come back to when it was under control. Special thanks to good ol’ kinderpal Mickster who quickened up the process by being her usual wonderful self and for winding me back up when I needed it!

Yay you’re back! The withdrawl has been ungodly. Traumatic even….

Now when is the housewarming party? 😉

Glad you’re back! I as the others was going through withdrawal also. The new place sounds amazing, I am truly jealous since that sounds like the kind of place I’d like to live in. To be honest, I think I put on Psycho II sometimes just so I can spend 2 hours in the atmosphere of that house.

I would love to have a housewarming party…but that might mean opening the front door!

    Matt S,

I feel the same way about Psycho 2. That is where I want to live. Our place is nowhere near that nice but we are specifically leaning in that direction. We may need more stuffed birds. I do have a convincing Halloween-prop raven so that helps. Surprisingly, my favorite thing about the new place turned out to be the automatic ice cube maker in the fridge! It makes those nice curvy moon shaped cubes that I grew up with! How did I live without it?
