I’m… at a loss for words. The loss of two icons in one day. I really don’t know what to say.
R.I.P to two talented people.

Weird, isn’t it?

Thank you for choosing pics portraying them at their best.

It’s hard to believe that we’ve lost two amazing icons.
I’ve given my tributes to each in my column.

Two icons from my childhood, in one day… what’s that line from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, about reaching a point in one’s life where more’s taken from you than given?
Looking at the two of them with eyes apropos to this site, I’ll remember Farrah from Saturn 3, and that scary scene when Hector the robot was taking a splinter of metal from her eyeball… She was a perceived glamour girl who broke past people’s perceptions of her and achieved acclaim in a series of very demanding, dramatic roles.
And while Michael never affected me personally or musically, I do remember him singing the theme song for Ben, the most incongruous song ever for a movie about super-intelligent killer rats… He was like a familiar landmark, and now out of the blue, he’s gone…

Im also pleased with the pictures you chose to honor them. I have been walking around thinking about Michael Jackson since I heard the news last night and the “Michael Jackson” I see in my mind is the one from the THRILLER videos (which is the best he ever looked and he shoulda just stopped nippin and tuckin and whatever else he was doin at THAT point) becuase that was the one from my posters and pins when I was a little girl and wanted to marry him (oh shut up: I was 11!) I may not have been a die hard fan but I loved The JACKSON 5, Off the Wall and Thriller. I even used to watch that crappy JACKSON 5 cartoon and I’m sure if it ever comes out in a box set I’ll be the first one in line to buy it!

In regards to Farrah, nothing beats The Burning Bed. In regards to Michael, I prefer La Toya…

OK, as a little kid I did like The Jackson 5 though I was never really into Michael’s solo stuff. The album “Thriller” was shoved down my throat in highschool though I found the video for the title track was indeed a classic! Here is a piece of OLD history on a classic kids show that was out in the 70’s: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OHN9FBRtdI Now as for Farrah……WAY back in the Fall of 76 “Charlie’s Angels” came out and the three of them, especially Farrah, were the talk of the town. Now, as this was out durring school days, I could not stay up late to watch that show. I’d have to wait till the following Summer to see the repeats. I did get my parents to let me stay up late to see a CBS broadcast of the “Logan’s Run” movie that had Farrah in a small role! I HAD to see that!
