Name That Trauma :: Reader Paul B. on a Roof Busting Beast

October 15th, 2010 by aunt john · 12 Comments

I just returned from Florida and during the Universal Horror Make-Up Show they showed a compilation of special effects from horror throughout the decades, one clip in particular caught my attention and would like to find out which film it’s from.

It was only 5 seconds long but it had a monster/vampire similar to the monster from TOBE HOOPER‘s THE FUNHOUSE, he had broken through the roof of a house and was trying to get to someone on the roof (I think)….I’d be impressed if this one is solved.

Many thanks,

Paul B.

UPDATE: NAME THAT TRAUMA SOLVED! Per Paul, “Judging by the video it looks like ARMY OF DARKNESS (my least watched of the EVIL DEAD films). The 3 seconds when I was in the audience obviously wasn’t enough to register with my brain. A shame, I was hoping it was some unseen gem.” So kudos to UNK and thanks to Jergy for the assist!

Aww, now I wish I were going down for Halloween Horror Nights.  Anyway here’s a list of everything that appears in the show. Maybe it’ll help jog your memory. Happy Hunting!

I just had a eureka thought that it might be “Hell Night” but it’s not on the list!

I think it may be the pit beast from Army of Darkness!
The clip right before it is on a roof & I think they might have blended together?
    Thanks Jergey for the link!

I really, really hate to say this, but I think that might have been from Van Helsing. Wasn’t that CGI?

Oh! So if they blended together then we’re both right! Good! I didn’t want to recognize Van Helsing.

    Billy V,

I thought that might be Van Helsing but I couldn’t quite make it out.
Yep, I bet it’s a combo of the two!

Yeah, I think that is blended together, as I recall the werewolf trap scene quite well…

There’s actually several clips from Army Of Darkness – and Van Helsing. Plus – awesome – Lon Chaney as The Phantom Of The Opera! Man, I LOVE Lon Chaney!

You and me both Jami! If you haven’t already you MUST see The Unknown (I think that’s it). Young Katherine Hepburn. Chaney as a maniacal armless knife thrower in a circus (you uses his feet). A dwarf assistant who dresses EXACTLY like Chaney. Directed by Tod Browning. Amazing!

Ooo! Have to put that on my “Must Watch” list. I’m trying to convince the librarian where I work that the library needs to add “Freaks” to it’s DVD collection just so I can see it.

Just yesterday in my reading class, I had a student tell me about going to this show during our fall break. We were reading about Ed Gein and he was surprised to have a teacher who enjoys horror.
