Kindertrauma Funhouse :: Hammer Glamour Contest!

September 4th, 2009 by unkle lancifer · 6 Comments

Hey look! Our comments section is currently closed, and that can mean only one thing; it’s contest and PRIZE time! Today’s incredible prize is a hot new book called HAMMER GLAMOUR a hardcover tome filled with high gloss photos and fascinating information concerning the lovely ladies of Britain’s HAMMER FILMS. I was sent this glorious book for review and my review goes something like this, “Finally a book that will please both the literate and the illiterate in equal measures. If you can’t afford to purchase HAMMER GLAMOUR then you my friend, have a crappy job!” Seriously kids, I want to keep this book all to myself; I want to hug it like Daffy Duck and yell, “Mine mine, mine!”

Unfortunately for myself, I promised I’d hand this baby over to one of you guys! (If only I was as savvy as DAY OF THE WOMAN‘s Brittney-Jade, she made no such deal with the devil and gets to keep hers. Read her take on the book HERE) Well, as they say; “Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and DONALD SUTHERLAND, points at you, howls like a banshee and reveals your human identity to the other pod folks.”

So get at it already! Tell me what ten horror movies these ten random images are from! Send your answers to and if you have the most correct I will send you this book that by rights should be mine, all mine!

Well, it was a pretty close race between everyone who submitted…
    and then
    Penhgwyn shows up
    and gets seven correct!!!
    here is the winning ballot:
    Howdy there!
Well, since nobody else will see these, and since it’s for a prize, I feel free to make some wild-ass guesses.  Enjoy!

(Sorry P, your wild-ass guesses are too good to keep to myself)

    1. From Beyond
    2. Christine
    3. Arachnophobia
    4. Satan Goes Under the Sea and Gets Bored
    5. Scarecrows
    6. Videodrome
    7. The Tripper
    8. Help! My Girlfriend Looks Like Jane Fonda!
    9. Anguish
    10. Dawn of the Dead (2004)

so the 3 that P missed were

4 THE DUNWICH HORROR (opening credits sequence)

7 HOUSE OF THE DEAD (Don’t blame ya guys for forgetting that one)

8 RAW MEAT aka DEADLINE which did star Donald Pleasance but not JANE FONDA

    you have earned HAMMER GLAMOUR!!!!!!!!

send us your address and it as good as on it’s way!!!!

All the rest of  ya mugs

What’s your top two flicks from the list above?

I’m going with VIDEODROME and……. DAWN OF THE DEAD remake????!!! WTF? How does that beat out FROM BEYOND and CHRISTINE for me?? I’m sort of surprised as I love both them movies but DAWN has the best opening sequence ever( and the SARAH POLLY!) What choice do I have?

    5 outta 10 ain’t bad, but i’ll be damned if i still don’t recognize #10
top two? oh that’s tough…i’d have to go with VIDEODROME and RAW MEAT (just because it was so ahead of its time) with CHRISTINE and FROM BEYOND standing in as alternates. (and DAWN’s first 15 minutes is truly breathtaking)

Wow,not too many responses this week.

I only knew one of them this time (Anguish) so I didn’t bother to send it in.

As far as desert island films, I’d have to go with Scarecrows(Great underrated film) and From Beyond.

I hate working on Fridays! I knew those! I knew all but 2! Ugh!
As for top 2… that’s a hard one. I love me some Arachnophobia for it’s mix of comedy and horror. 2nd choice… hmmm… Dawn of the Dead. I <3 Videodrome… but it hurts my head too much lol.

Hmmmm.  What’s the dealio with the super-extended DotD intro sequence?  I never saw the totally awesome helicopter FLIR footage before – or at least I don’t remeber it.

I think that embedded video was for the unabridged version of the song, so it was padded with extra stuff.
I would have to go with the DOTD remake (one of the best opening sequences I’ve ever seen, and a great, nihilistic ending to boot) and Videodrome, even though I haven’t seen that one in decades.
