Excellent pick, guys — I love me some L7. Bricks Are Heavy is probably one of my favorite stress-relieving albums of all time. “Monster” could be a great double-shot with another song on the album with a Halloween-esque title, “Pretend We’re Dead:”
I loved “Pretend We’re Dead”; however, their infamous “tampon incident” is a hard mental image to shake. With some good therapy maybe I will one day be able to let it go and enjoy their music once again.
I managed to see these ladies when they were touring the most excellent Smell the Magic EP. Thankfully, this pre-dated the “incident”gilligan mentioned.
Side note: Glad to see you got your icon working FilmFather!
OhmyGod, I used to have BRICKS ARE HEAVY (as well as TRIPLE PLATINUM :THE BEAUTY PROCESS) on cassette!
I remember going to see L7 open for OFFSPRING in a small club in NYC. I took a friend who had never heard L7 in her life and she had a blast! It’s just that kind of music……very easy to get into it.
And, no, no tampons were thrown on us that day. Phew!
L7 are pretty cool (I got to see them open for the Beastie Boys on the Check Your Head Tour…along with House Of Pain), but my heart belongs to The Lunachicks!
@mrcanacorn: Between the Lunachicks (one of my faves too… can’t top the Jan Brady song) & Babes in Toyland, I think you should host a foxcore appreciation week.

Oh Auntie, after Rocktober, I’ve sworn off any and all musical themed months and/or weeks…it was the best/worst idea I’ve ever had for Awesomeness.
I think I’ll just enjoy those foxcore vids by my lonesome and not alienate any more readers than I already have.
