1.) Warriors of the Wasteland
2.) Cyborg
3.) Night of the Comet
4.) The Quiet Earth
5.) Escape From New York (NYC>LA any day)
6.) The Omega Man
7.) I Am Legend
8.) The Book of Eli
9.) The Road
10.) The Road Warrior
While we're on the topic of post apocalyptic wastelands and dogs and all, if you haven't seen them, I would recommend you check out Human Animals aka Animales Racionales (1983) and A Boy and His Dog (1975) with Don Johnson; it's pretty fitting, it being 2024 and the US provoking a nuclear holocaust with Russia and all.
All I have to say is mother Russia, rain down, down, down…

I love Escape from LA and I will happily defend it. I read the movie as John Carpenter throwing a middle finger to the Hollywood movie factory that had treated him as just another disposable worker and caused him so much grief. Tobe Hooper's Toolbox Murders remake works on the same level.

Ghastly1,
I’ve seen A BOY AND HIS DOG but not HUMAN ANIMALS (’83)! Thanks for the tip. I’ll check it out!
SDC,
It took me a while but I can appreciate ESCAPE FROM LA much better now. Seemed really out of date when it came out (same with GHOSTS OF MARS) but play much better these days when sci-fi has gotten a little too drab and serious!
I’ve always loved HOOPER’S TOOLBOX MURDERS! Just watched it again on VHS! It almost feels like it could be the third chapter in Argento’s Mother trilogy! Love Angela Bettis in it too!
I think #7 is I am Legend (the one with Will Smith). Are dogs the theme this week?
#10 – Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
Oh! 10 is The Road Warrior, of course.
So the theme is dogs, post-apocalyptic stories, or both!
#5 – Escape From New York
#4 – The Quiet Earth
#3 – Night of the Comet
#1 is THE NEW BARBARIANS (1983) with lovable old George Eastman.
2 and 3 are so familiar but not coming to mind (3 especially is killing me)!
I think #8 might be the original Last Man on Earth, with Vincent Price (I Am Legend is a remake).
Is #5 Shocking Dark? I get that vibe from it.
I’m going to take a guess that #6 is The Omega Man (the other remake of The Last Man on Earth), but I haven’t watched that film in years.
