Category: Name That Trauma!

I'm not even sure how to begin looking this one up since there is only one thing I recall about it, so if it's been covered already, I'll use the excuse that something is sucking out my brain.

My mother raised me right. She and I used to watch the ‘50s-‘60s-‘70s era classics together. She got me started early, and I recall the ones that scared the night-lights out of me… THE BLOB making its first appearance out of the meteor… the way its victims just completely disappeared… the word "absorbed" has always (and always will) have a much more traumatizing association for me than, say – paper towels. Another one: the hands with the alcohol needles and the drunk cow of INVASION OF THE SAUCER MEN. Or the general's brain being revealed in EARTH VS. THE FLYING SAUCERS. You get the idea.

With all of those great (clear!) memories, there is one I just can't seem to pull out of my somewhat cluttered brain.

It was at the end of the movie, which I'm fairly certain was in B&W, and showed a claw, presumably from some regenerating creature (that's important), floating down to the sea bed, and then slowly beginning to "crawl" around. There was no mistaking that it was meant that "it ain't over yet."

I thought it might be the end of the original GODZILLA. Nope. It wasn't skeletal. THE GIANT CLAW? HA! Definitely not. REPTILICUS? Hmmm… if that's it, it doesn't appear on my VHS (what?) copy, and besides, that was in color.

Anyone who can direct me to the correct movie might just save the sanity of two movie fans. If not… well, I'm pretty sure we've all seen what happened in PSYCHO.

O.K., I have searched out and found nearly every horror film I vaguely remembered from my childhood, except one. One that actually scared me into leaving the drive-in when I was about 12; the year I saw it would have been sometime in the mid-to-late seventies. It had a very gothic atmosphere to it and may have been a dubbed Italian movie.

Anyways here is all I can remember since I didn't see the whole movie:

• It starts off with a woman arriving at night during a storm to a big scary mansion/castle.
• There is a very vicious dog barking and a malevolent atmosphere.
• Later there is a scene where the young woman finds her doll (ragdoll?) in her bed with a knife stuck in its stomach.
• And the last scene I can recall is the woman going into the bathroom where blood is pouring out of the bathtub faucet and someone slowly rises covered in blood from the blood filled bathtub.

Now I realize the last scene is very much like THE TINGLER, but that is not it.

I really hope some out there can help me figure out this movie's title, it has driven me crazy for a long time.

When I was in elementary school, I remember our teacher playing a movie (or T.V. special?) for the class. I'm pretty sure this was 1991-92. The movie wasn't quite scary, but it was bizarre and a little eerie. I also remember being confused, because it seemed to be totally unrelated to anything we were studying in class at the time. My memory of this is very vague, but I can recall some elements of the plot:

Some people live in a town near a swamp or pond, and they seem to be aware of a monster that lives in the water. It is later revealed that the "monster" was merely an old piece of construction equipment with moss and other vegetation covering it. (It might have been an excavator, since the boom and bucket might have appeared to the characters as a large animal's neck and head.) I also recall that the phrase "dance with the devil on a Saturday night" (or some variation on that) was spoken a number of times during the movie.

Any idea what this might have been?

I have asked this question on every message board that I can remember. No one has been able to answer. I am assuming the movie is from the ‘70s. All I can remember is there was a lady that was pregnant, she wanted an abortion or to not be pregnant anymore so her people (I can't remember if they were cannibals or a tribe or what) had her lie down under a cliff and they threw a huge boulder over onto her. It disturbed me as a kid and I was born in ‘78. Thank you so much in advance.

I just recently stumbled upon your site and it's amazing! I was wondering if i could get any help getting the names of two movies I saw as a child…

Here goes:

I don't remember much about this one. It's a black and white movie and there's a doll and a little girl. The one scene I remember is the doll pushes an old lady in a wheelchair down the stairs. You never see the doll move though. The odd combination of scenes scared me witless as a child and fueled my distrust of dolls. That's all I remember….

This one is a weird one. Maybe I saw it on Sci-fi? The second movie is a space adventure of some sort. Apparently this man and this alien are stuck on a deserted planet. Possibly crash landed? Well long story short it turns out the alien is pregnant. The alien has complications giving birth (due to the lack of medical help on the desert planet?) and begs the man to cut him open. The man does and promises that he will take care of the alien baby. The scenes that I can remember best are the alien telling the man that the baby can hear what goes on outside that womb (possible comedic relief?) and what I guess is near the end of the movie when the man and the alien child (now an adolescent) are walking around the deserted planet. I remember that the man is very short tempered with the boy.

UNK SEZ:: Marcela G., I'm pretty sure the second one is ENEMY MINE from 1985 starring DENNIS QUAID and LOU GOSSET JR. as the alien who gives birth. It's based on a story by BARRY B. LONGYEAR and its basic plot has been borrowed for an episode of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION entitled "The Enemy" and for what some consider to be the only decent episode of GALACTICA 1980, "The Return of Starbuck".

As for the wheelchair pushing doll, I'm sadly at a loss, especially considering Kindertrauma's vast research into wheelchair bound horror, which you can find HERE. Hopefully someone out there knows the answer to that one, we're all about killer dolls around here!

Just wondered if you might be able to help me. I'm looking for a T.V. movie, I know that once you say the title it will click with me but I can't seem to remember it. I thought you might know.

It was from the ‘80s and I believe all the ladies in it were soap opera stars or some of them were. The basic plot is they were all sorority girls I believe and one of them had a baby. Many years later the skeleton of the baby is found when the house is being destroyed. Then it becomes a reunion to find out who the mother was.

Does that sound vaguely familiar to you? I remember it used to show on TBS a few times back in the late ‘80s.

I'd peruse the rest of the joint too, you're sure to find tons of lost T.V. memories there, I know I always do!

There is a movie that I watched at my uncle's house when I was around 7 years old that scared the bejeezus out of me. I cannot figure out what it is for the life of me. I am assuming it was on either HBO or Cinemax sometime around 1987.

From what I can remember it took place on either a space ship or some futuristic tunnel system. There was a lot of blue lighting in theses tunnels. People were being chased in these tunnels by aliens or
Cyborgs that looked human. These things were naked but I seem to think they had prosthetic crotches (like LINNEA did in THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD). That is all I can remember.

I would like to find out what it is so I can rewatch it and see if it has the same effect on me now. Quite a few years back before I saw FROM BEYOND I thought it was the movie I was looking for due to the poster art and the lighting. Once I watched it I realized that it obviously wasn't it.

Any ideas?

It really brings back wonderful memories from our childhoods.

I have been trying to find out the name of a movie I saw about 30 years ago. It was the very first movie I saw on my first BETA VCR.

All I remember was that there were people playing cards at a casino table, a man unties a woman's dress and her breasts are shown, the people at the casino are surprised and somebody seizes the confusion and throws a knife and kills another man.

That was the first scene from the movie, my mother did not allow me to see the rest of the film because of the nudity on it. I really don't know if it was a horror movie, maybe it could be from Spain or Italy. Perhaps it is from the mid ‘70s. All I remember that the name of the movie in Spanish was "EL HACHA".

I have tried to look it up as "The Axe" on IMDB and all I found was:

This book has helped me to trace down films that I couldn't watch when they were first released at the theaters because of my age. It has the original name of the movies (in the language they are from) and the movie names in Spanish given at the movie theaters in Mexico.

I hope somebody can help me with the movie I'm trying to find.

Dear kindertrauma,

I am older than the most recent traumatized citizen, and would like to ask if anyone knows the name of this movie. It is a ‘50s space movie where the astronauts land on some unidentified planet and in just the area where the ship lands, it is transformed into an earth-like atmosphere with the usual plant life.

The astronauts go to explore and find a cave, which seems okay but there is a mysterious curtain of plant tendrils that seem to guard a secret! When one of the astronauts puts his hand through the curtain, he screams in pain and pulls his back and it is frozen! Some kind of aliens fooled the earthlings so that they would land their ship on their planet. That scene is the only part of the movie I remember.

Does anyone have a clue?
